Dreamy Ceiling Clouds

While staying at my parents’ house after returning to the U.S., I was approached by a woman who had always dreamed of having clouds painted on a raised portion of her ceiling. She wanted the colors to complement the purple and teal tones throughout her home and gave me full creative freedom to design the clouds as I saw fit.

The ceiling was an octagonal tray ceiling that typically housed a central light fixture. When planning the composition, I wanted the clouds surrounding the light to appear as though they were glowing from within. I also designed the clouds to create a gentle dome effect, extending the painting slightly onto the vertical sides of the tray ceiling to enhance the sense of depth and draw light toward the center.

This was my first time painting on a ceiling, as well as my first residential mural, and I absolutely loved the experience. It was incredibly rewarding to help bring someone’s long-held dream to life and to create something that transformed their space in such a meaningful way.
